The popular new release 50/50 is a funny yet inspirational film starring film icons Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, and Anna Kendrick. This heartwarming flick has already been watched by millions! It made eight million dollars the first week it was out in theaters. 50/50 is currently rated one of the top 3 movies currently showing.
This fantastic movie is a true story! The star is Adam (Joseph Gordon-Levitt.) He finds out that he has a cancer growing tumor on his spine. The name of the movie sums up his chances of living.
Roger Ebert from Chicago Sun Times says “What I appreciated was the third act. Sitcoms and film comedies in general have a way of going haywire with comic desperation toward the end. This one doesn’t.”
Adam’s friend Kyle (Seth Rogen) makes sure to keep Adam laughing as much as he can. With Kyle in Adam’s life, there is never a dull moment. Kyle constantly makes jokes to keep Adam laughing, smiling and staying as positive as he possibly can.
Adam is only twenty-seven years old, which is an extremely young and unfortunate age to receive cancer. Kyle lets Adam know that since he’s so young, he’s very likely to live. He’s got a 50/50 chance. “If you were a casino game, you’d have the best odds” says Kyle.
Claudia Puig from USA Today says “every performance in the film is flawless.”
This movie is perfectly balanced between laughter and tears. 50/50 is a film you will most definitely love watching and one that you won’t forget for a long time.
