Bieber Fever!

Posted on November 7, 2011

Teens running behind your limo, girls screaming your name, and being one of the most valuable young people in the music industry. Getting invited to sing for the President and first lady, and having one of the most talked about YouTube songs. Sounds like the life doesn’t it, because you wish you had his “swag”? Well, this is the life of Justin Bieber.

Justin Drew Bieber was born March 1st, 1994 in Ontario, Canada. As a child Bieber was interested in soccer, hockey, and chess. He taught himself later how to play the piano, drums, guitar and trumpet. At a singing competition in 2007, Bieber sang Ne-Yo’s “So Sick,” and placed second. His mom, Mallette, always posted videos of him when he performed for his family members to see.

Religion was another important part of Bieber’s childhood. Bieber is a Christian and says he talks with God, and He is the reason that Justin is here today. When Justin receives awards, he always gives recognition to God for allowing him to be successful. In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year, he was asked his views on abortion, sex, and homosexuality. He said that he doesn’t believe in abortion at all because it’s “like killing a baby.” Then being asked about sex he responded, “I don’t think you should have sex unless you’re in love with that person.” Finally being asked about homosexuality he said, “It’s everyone’s own decision to do that, it doesn’t affect me and shouldn’t affect anyone else.”

Bieber was introduced to the music industry in 2008, when he was discovered by Scooter Braun. Braun was impressed by what he saw. He went to Bieber’s school to get in contact with him, and later flew Bieber out to Atlanta to meet Usher Raymond. Later, Bieber was signed to Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG), and then signed to a recording contract with Island Records by music mogul L.A. Reid.

Bieber is well known for his two hit songs: “One Time,” released in 2009, reached #12 on the Canadian Hot 100 during its first release in July 2009. “Baby,” released in January 2010, is one of his biggest hits, reached number five in U.S; and Top Ten in seven other countries. “Baby” is also one of the most viewed and talked about videos on YouTube.

On December 20th, 2009 Bieber performed Stevie Wonder’s “Someday at Christmas” for President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama. In the vocalist remake of “We Are the World,” for the 25th Anniversary, Bieber was invited to sing Lionel Richie’s opening line from the original version written by Michael Jackson. Vocalists joined together to support Haiti after the disastrous earthquake.A Junior here at Croatan, Helena Cortez, said, “I love everything about Justin Bieber: his hair, voice, and perfume.” Cortez has all of Bieber’s albums, and has been to two of his concerts. If she could be his girlfriend, then she definitely would. At one of his concerts, she and a pack of girls chased down his limo. Also, she has three of his dolls that she loves very much.
On November 2nd Bieber released his Christmas album “Under the Mistletoe.” The deluxe edition with bonus tracks was ranked at number two on the digital downloads charts, and the regular edition was ranked at number seven only after a day of being released.  On the CD, Bieber has duets with Mariah Carey and the legendary Boys II Men. A portion of the money he receives will be given to two charities, Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Boys and Girls Club of America. Bieber encourages fans to give to charities, to help out families and people in need. He said that the purpose of the CD was to give back to everybody.

But on the other hand, many people don’t like him at all, because he hasn’t really grown into his voice yet, and they say that he sounds too feminine for them.   When he first started singing publicly, people thought he was “funny” because he hadn’t grown into his voice. His fans love his voice anyway…forget the haters, you do your thang, Bieber!
