Kyla Hebb Meets Taylor Swift

Posted on December 5, 2011

Have you ever dreamed of meeting someone famous? Or maybe you just dream of being able to see them perform from a front row seats.  Junior Kyla Hebb got to experience both of these things in one night.

“Taylor even said, ‘Wow! You must get mistaken for me a lot! We have the same eyes and everything!’”

Kyla entered and won a Taylor Swift look-a-like contest hosted by WRNS where she received two VIP tickets to Taylor’s concert on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the RBC Center in Raleigh.  Kyla took her sister, Morgan Radford, with her and together they met the famous singer and saw her  perform from front row seats.

Taylor Swift, at twenty-one years old, is an American country pop singer-songwriter, musician, and actress.  She has been nominated for nineteen awards in her career including winning Best Female Artist of the Year the last two years in a row.

Since the age of fourteen, Kyla has had complete strangers mistake her for Taylor Swift, and some even approach her asking for her autograph.  Because of this,  many of Kyla’s friends encouraged her to enter the look-a-like contest.

When Kyla arrived, she first went with the rest of the VIPs into the back where they “all waited to meet Taylor in [their] individual groups that [they] came with.”  Kyla said she and her sister were third in line.  “It didn’t really hit me that I was meeting THE Taylor Swift until they opened the curtain for the person in front of me to go meet her, and I caught a glimpse of her.”

“Meeting Taylor was completely surreal,” said Kyla, “The first thing she said to me and Morgan when she saw us was, ‘Finally, some tall girls!’ and hugged us.”

“Fans are my favorite thing in the world.” says Taylor, “I’ve never been the type of artist who has that line drawn between their friends and their fans. The line’s always been really blurred for me.”

On Thursday night, Taylor Swift made a new friend, and for Kyla it was “one of the best experiences of [her] life.”
