Aubrey Drake Graham was born October 24, 1986 in Toronto, Ontario. Aubrey  goes by “Drake” for his stage name, and he is also know for playing Jimmy Brooks, a basketball player on Degrassi: The Next Generation. Drake attended Jewish day school and had a Bar Mitzvah. For high school, he attended Forest High Collegiate Institute where he began acting, but did not graduate. At a young age, Drake said, “I had to become a man very quickly and be the backbone for a woman who I love with all my heart, my mother.”

In 2009 Drake signed a recording contract with Lil. Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment. In November 2009 Lil. Wayne announced that Drake’s first studio album was finally finished and would be released next year. Thank Me Later was released June 15th, 2010, peaking at number one on Billboard 100, and has been Platinum ever since it was released.

On February 13, 2009 Drake released the mixtape So Far Gone . Within two hours of being released over 2,000 downloads had already been made. Two hits “Best I Ever Had” and “Successful” were very popular on the radio, and earned the mixtape “certified gold” by RIAA with over 500,000 copies sold in the US.   On April 18, 2010 the mixtape earned Drake the best Rap Recording of the Year at the 2010 Juno Awards.

Drake hosted the first annual October’s Very Own (OVO) event, which included a  VIP list of rap stars like Jay Z, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Bun B, and Fabolous.  During September 2010 Drake‘s “Lights Dreams and Nightmares Tours” kicked off, and ended November 6 in Las Vegas.

On October 24, 2011 Drake released his sophomore album “Take Care,” which sold 162,000 copies in the first week and 173,000 in the second week.  Take Care has background vocals from TLC’s T-Boz and Chilli and collaboration from Rhianna on the “Take Care Remix”.

In an interview with Junior JacQues Chambers when asked his favorite song, he replied; “Take Care is one of the best albums released this year, my favorite songs are “Cameras” and “HYFR.” He said that he wouldn’t go to a concert because he doesn’t like live shows. In his spare time after basketball practice he listens to Drake, and sings along with the songs. Jac also said that he likes Drake’s creativity; that’s why he continues to listen to him.

Drake is currently making another hot album for 2012 using his creativity.   So all of the fans get ready, it’s going to be even better then Take Care.
